We are excited to share we launched our first Table on December 11th! After 7 weeks of training and preparation, 8 dedicated Table mentors had the opportunity to meet the "Sister" for the first time at the Breaking of the Bread ceremony.
The group spent time getting to know one another as they shared a pot-luck meal. The Table mentors were so thrilled to meet the Sister and her two children and everyone came together quite naturally.
Each week, the Table comes together to help the Sister create, organize and achieve her life goals.
“Open Table has been very encouraging and has helped me open up about a lot of things.” the Sister noted, “I find the program to be very interesting and have enjoyed interacting with other adults.”
Table mentor Amanda Jacobs shared “Over the past few months, I have been blessed with the opportunity to join and serve the Open Table Ministry, facilitated by Family Promise of Summit County. Throughout my life, the one constant that has remained is my family; my support network. I truly believe the power of relationships can help to carry you through life, and succeed. I am here to grow my support network and hopefully help someone else achieve their goals. I am excited to see what the future holds!”
The first Table will continue meeting weekly until December,2020. We hope to launch Table # 2 later this year. If you are interested in serving as an Open Table Mentor, please contact me for more information at cm@familypromisesc.org or 330.253.8081.
