Success Story - Michael Utilizes Public Resources to Gain Independence

Michael and his family became homeless because his lease was up and he had nowhere to go when he moved out. "I was living with family and staying in hotels. I came to Family Promise and they helped me and my family a lot. " said Michael. Family Promise provided shelter, basic essentials, and Trauma Informed Case Management while the family found a permanent place to stay. "They also helped us get some clothes, food etc. They gave my kids school supplies and book bags for back to school." says Michael.

Michael's family was at Family Promise for 3 months. It was difficult to find suitable housing for his family due to barriers that prevented some landlords from renting to him. Then Family Promise learned about New Frontier Homes. Michael completed the application and submitted all of the documentation needed. About a month later, he was approved and able to move his family into their new home. "I signed my lease and got my keys the same day," says Michael "Thanks to Family Promise for helping my family and I find a nice place to live." Family Promise also helped the family purchase furniture and needed household items. We are very proud of Michael and happy to help him on his journey to sustainable independence!
